Dr. Chandrakala has been working in St.Johns Medical college Hospital for the past 22 years. She is a Certified paediatrician by Rajiv Gandhi university, National Board of examinations , New Delhi. and an Certified Neonatologist from National Board of examinations , New Delhi.
Currently Professor in the department of Neonatology, she Specialises in Paediatrics and Neonatology.

Has conducted more than 200 Neonatal resuscitation programmes where trained > 3000 health care workers in Neonatal resuscitation which is the programme to give a breath and save a life at birth of a baby (if baby doesn’t cry at birth)which leads to Developmental delay, severe form causes Cerebral palsy.
Has given > 50 guest lectures on Neonatal care in many state and National level conferences
Taken up training health care workers in neonatal resuscitation at the district hospitals after MOU with Government of Karnataka , Health and family welfare for reduction of Neonatal deaths in High priority districts of Karnataka. Paper published on the work which caused reduced Neonatal mortality( 2022 paper- juniper publication – 1st author)
Mentor appointed by NNF Karnataka to train doctor, nurses, in newborn care and management of babies in NICU at the Special newborn units. Had taken up mentoring of cheluvamba, chamarajnagar district for 1 year.
